Our Inspiration
Josephine is an Italian-American neighborhood restaurant that pays homage to our owner's grandmother, a special woman and home cook that took great pride in feeding those she loved. Inspired by her core values, Josephine provides a sense of warmth and a place to create lasting memories. From the woman behind its namesake to our team who carefully executes our food & beverage program and our guests who experience it all, Josephine was born from memories of the past and built for memories of the future. Our goal is to make people feel a sense of place and familiarity, yet we want there to be a pleasant surprise waiting with each visit.

While our food is Italian inspired, our team is not restricted by rules of the cuisine and has an innovative take on the dishes offered, with many ingredients being produce-forward and locally-sourced. Josephine opened its doors in November 2022 and brings a classic yet elevated big-city feel to Jacksonville and the Avondale community, offering a dining experience that engages all five senses. With art and design elements that personify Josephine’s natural femininity and iconic beauty, our restaurant offers a warm and sophisticated atmosphere for you to truly relax and enjoy the ambiance. The art and design elements showcased throughout our restaurant are created by local and regional makers that lend to Josephine’s polished, yet hand-finished feel.
